Acid β-mannanase

β-mannan is a kind of hemicellulose which is most widely spread and has high content in plant except cellulose and xylan. It is a linear polymer formed by β-1,4-D- D-mannose, mainly glucose group, acetylgroup and galactose group, forming the main component of the cell wall of seed plants.β-mannan and its derivatives hinder nutrition absorption in feed, which leads to diarrhea in different degrees, and ultimately affects the growth and feed utilization of livestock and poultry. The anti-nutritional effect of mannan is the formation of gel 'mucus' after dissolving it in water, so as to improve the viscosity of chyme, reduce the contact between endogenous enzymes and nutrients in animals, slow down nutrient absorption by intestinal tract, and adsorb metal ions, such as Ca2+、Zn2+、Na+, and endogenous enzymes, which affect the nutrient digestion and absorption. Moreover, mannosan can cause excessive immune response under stress or disease, affect the absorption of glucose by small intestine, interfere carbohydrate metabolism and the secretion of insulin-like growth factor(IGF-1), thus inhibit the growth of animals.

Acid β-mannanase is an endomannanase that mainly hydrolyzes galactomannan, glucomannan, galactomannan and mannan, the main chain of which are all 1,4-β-D-pyran mannose, to oligosaccharide which containing 2~10 residues.

Challenge Group has been working with the Feed Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS) for more than ten years on the development and application of non-starch polysaccharide(NSP) enzyme. One of the representative products is acid β-mannanase, which can specifically hydrolyze mannan in feed to mannose oligosaccharide, thus reduce the viscosity of animal intestinal chyme and improve the energy utilization of feed.

Since mannan is degraded, IGF-1 content, glucose absorption and carbohydrate metabolism are promoted, alleviate excessive immunity caused by mannan of soybean meal, palm meal and other raw materials. The degradation product, mannose oligosaccharide, can also adsorb mycotoxin, improve intestinal microbial flora, improve the integrity of intestinal mucosa, regulate immune function, improve animal health, and significantly improve the production performance of animals. It is of great significance to save raw material resources of energy feed and improve the production level of animal industry.

Benefits in piglets

Sixty six healthy piglets of 35±3 days old with similar body weight were randomly divided into two groups, 3 repeats in each group and 11 pigs in each repeat. The control group was fed with corn soybean meal basal diet (18% soybean meal content). The experimental group was fed with acid β-mannanase 500 U/kg on the basis of the control group. This trial was done for 28 days.

       Compared with the control group, ADFI of piglets increased by 58 g, ADG increased by 46.6 g, and F/G decreased by 0.07.

 

Definition of Acid β-mannanase

At 37 ℃ and pH3.50, the enzyme amount needed for 1 min to degrade and release 1 μ mol reducing sugar from 3 mg/mL LBG (Robinia pseudoacacia bean gum, Sigma: G0753) solution is a unit of enzyme activity.

 

Appearance: Free flowing light yellow powder

Enzyme activity and package: 10 000 U/g, 50 000 U/g;25 kg/bag

Dosage: 500-1000U/ kg of complete feed with soybean meal; 1000-2 000 U/ kg of complete feed with miscellaneous meal.

This product can be added directly to the compound enzyme as raw material and has synergy with β-glucanase and α-galactosidase.

 

Shelf life and storage:

Store in dry and ventilated place for 12 months, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.

 

Warnings:

Use it as soon as possible. Gradually dilute and mix when using. If any remain, seal tight after use.
